The Retina Display isn’t the only big change on the new iPad when compared to the iPad 2.
The new iPad sports an impressive 5MP iSight camera on the back. This allows for some really nice still photos, especially when you compare them to those taken with the iPad 2.
The iSight camera also gives us 1080p video recording at 30fps. That’s a bump up from the 720p at 30fps on the iPad 2.
Here’s a quick camera shootout with both the new iPad and iPad 2 in action. Of note, watch it at its highest quality to really see the differences.
Here’s a quick comparison between both iPads when it comes to still photography. Of note, the pictures are a little compressed for the blog, so the results my not be as dramatic. But if you watch the video at its highest quality, you can really see the differences.

Again, the new iPad
And the iPad 2
So as you can see, there is a big difference in quality when it comes to the camera. But I really wonder how many people will be using their iPad as a camera. I would have really liked to see an improved front facing camera. Maybe that will have to wait until the next iPad.
What do you think? Will you be using your new iPad for photography and video?
