National Film Board of Canada brings App to iPad

by on July 1st, 2010

Well, its no ABC, or NetFlix, it’s not even Hulu, but it’s something. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Canada Day than downloading this free App and enjoying some quality Canadian film content.

Details, from the Winnipeg Free Press:

The National Film Board of Canada’s award-winning app is now available for the iPad.

The app allows streaming of more than 1,000 documentaries, animated shorts and trailers, including some in 3D and high definition.

Users can also store a film on their iPad for up to 48 hours for viewing without Internet access.

The iPad app is similar to the NFB’s iPhone app, which was chosen as one of the year’s best in 2009 by iTunes Canada.

The NFB says the app was downloaded more than 235,000 times and about 821,000 films were viewed through it as of June 1.

I’m honestly excited to try this out. Storing the content for 48hr offline viewing is a feature I can get behind! Have you tried the iPhone version? What did you think?
