A report from Bloomberg today indicates that the patent dispute between Apple and Samsung has taken a very tangible turn with Samsung delaying the launch of its upcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in Australia. The device has been delayed in Australia until a lawsuit filed by Apple is resolved.
Samsung, based in Suwon, South Korea, agreed to stop advertising the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia and not to sell the device until it wins court approval or the lawsuit is resolved
According to the Bloomberg report, the Galaxy Tab device in Australia is different than the one sold in North America and Samsung has agreed to provide Apple access to the Australian version of the device at least seven days before its launch. Apple requires this investigation to ensure the Samsung tablet does not infringe on any Apple patents, which has been an on-going litigation.
Apple initiated the injunction in Australia after Samsung began announcing the upcoming launch of the Galaxy Tab device and this is the first time in the Samsung-Apple litigation that the proceedings have prevented the sale of a Samsung product.
While the company’s sales have not been affected in Canada, going forward, it seems Samsung may have increasing difficulties with selling its products.
