The best game I never finished was Riven. The sequel to Myst by Cyan Worlds took the eerie, other-worldly puzzler to new levels of beauty and complexity.
So I am extremely excited to hear that Riven HD is coming to the iPad later this fall.
Riven is perfectly suited for the iPad since the gameplay basically consists of point and clicking your way through environments. Being able to interact with your finger rather than mouse will only serve to immerse the player even further into an already amazingly detailed world.
Cyan’s Mark DeForest going under the handle “Chogon” made this post on the Myst Online forums:
The original Riven sights and sounds have been meticulously re-assembled for a remarkable experience on the iPhone and iPod touch. Everything that you remember from the original Riven in a format where a simple touch or swipe moves you through the world.
What’s even more amazing is that the original game’s five CD-ROM’s worth of data has been compressed into a about 2 gigs worth of game. A hefty install that only goes to show the depth of the game it delivers.
Look for a full review when it’s released in the fall.
