How often do you sync your iPad?

by on October 1st, 2010

I’ve had my iPad for a couple of months now and I noticed that I actually, so far anyway, rarely ever sync the iPad to my computer.

The only reason I have for syncing is to back up applications that I have purchased and that are not available for free. E-mail is already “safe” with the use of IMAP since the server is remote. Depending on how you setup contacts and calendars the same applies, an I have only configured those on my iPhone.

I guess that if I was using it for work stuff more often and creating documents and presentation I would consider doing it more often or making sure to use a service like Dropbox to save files on-line.

So I was wondering, iPad users and readers of this blog, how often do YOU actually sync your iPad with our computer and why?

Maybe once a week. Most times to get my calendar and address book updated.

Not a lot. Only recently more to transfer over media to play on CineXplayer on our trip to san Diego

I only sync to add content to VLC and to get iOS updates.

So far about once a month, and then it takes a while because there’s a lot to sync!;) It’s so convenient doing app updates right on the iPad… Syncing just lets me put photo/music/video content updated from my computer…

I sync my iPad at least once a week. I carry my most recently purchased music on my iPad (all my music is on my iPod), so I need to sync it regularly.

If you use Google Sync those could happen over Wifi.

I’ve never synced my iPad since I first started it up. I stream my music and video using Streamtome so the harddrive is completely empty. I use Dropbox to get books and other documents on to it.

Only reason I ever plug in any of my iDevices is to install a new OS and jailbreak (didnt even have to plug it in for that this time)

I sync whenever there is an app update that I have become aware of, usually daily.

I’ve had my iPad since the first week of May and sync daily. I have over 300 apps so there are updates every day and I also use it for video podcasts so there are daily updates of those. I am also beta testing iOS 4.2 and an app so there are crash logs to submit most days.

I sync at least once a day usually several times each day. If I’m at my main computer, I’ll plug in my iPad to charge. While it’s charging I’ll sync it. By syncing often I keep my apps and podcasts updated and keep the back up time very short. I do the same with my iPhone.

Probably once every two months. Usually, when I say to myself, “oh, crap, I should do a backup.” speaking of which……….

Every couple weeks, but not nearly as much as my phone, which is every couple days.
