The SNAFU that has ensued over the leak of the JailbreakMe.com 2.0 jailbreak has been spreading like wildfire today on the Internet. Comex has been hard at work on this jailbreak, and its early release means stern consequences for the jailbreak community. @i0n1c was quick to note Apple now has the upper hand and will patch the PDF exploit used immediately in a software update, presumably iOS 4.3.4.
How did this jailbreak leak, and more importantly who discovered it? If the following blog entry is accurate, 20 year old Ryan Lobbins from Arizona is responsible. As noted by Apple blogz, the computer science major confesses his account of how he discovered the jailbreak, but didn’t intend for it to spread. He claims the person responsible for the release of the files was an individual by the name of Will Sayer.
Am I responsible for the leak?
Did I leak it intentionally?
Not really, I only intended for 1 or 2 people to try the files to see if they worked. The person who leaked it was Will Sayer, and him only. He released the files, sent off the info to news sites not me.
You can check out the entire story here. What’s your take on this? Is Ryan responsible?
