If you own a Mac, you might be following the development of Apple’s next operating system, OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion. Many new features have been revealed, showing that Apple is really trying to close the gap between OSX and iOS. One of these features is Notification Center. OS X 10.8 comes with iOS 5′s Notification Center, but handles it in a different way. You click the notification button at the right of the status bar, and the entire desktop slides over to reveal the Notification Center. As soon as I saw this, I thought this is how it should be handled on the iPad, as well. If you jailbreak, you can now have the OS X 10.8 Notification Center on your iPad.
With the new tweak called “MountianLionCenter for iPad”, you get the same look and feel of Mountain Lion’s NC, right on your iPad. You simple use 2 fingers to swipe left across your screen to reveal the Notification Center. Works in portrait or landscape and from the home screen or any app that might be open. There are no options to configure, so if you use the 2 finger swipe to the left for other actions, like multitasking, you’ll have to reconfigure them to use this tweak. I also have the Do Not Disturb NC widget installed, as well as NCSettings.
Personally, I think Apple’s Notification Center in iOS looks silly on the iPad. It just seems out of place when you pull down the little window from the middle of the big screen. I think this is the way it should be done. That’s just my opinion, though.
MountianLionCenter for iPad is a free tweak and is available in Cydia now, in the Big Boss repo.
