[Update] iPad 2 Untethered Safari Jailbreak Demoed

by on July 2nd, 2011

Update: Comex has spoken out about the leak, and @i0n1c has mentioned Apple will soon patch this exploit since it has been leaked.

Leading up to the launch of the iPhone 4, iOS hackers released a jailbreak tool on a website “JailbreakMe.com”. At the time, this was the simplest method to jailbreak your device.

To jailbreak, users visited the site, tapped one button and waited for the jailbreak to complete. It now seems that this simple jailbreak may be back but this time for the iPad 2.

The iPad 2 jailbreak has been consistently delayed since the iPad launch, with iOS hackers working diligently on creating a simple and stable tool.

This new, but unofficial, jailbreak allows users to visit a site on Safari and jailbreak their iPad 2 with one tap. This jailbreak is also untethered and requires iOS 4.3.3.

It is important to understand that this jailbreak is not an official tool released by the Dev Team or Comex. However, it does show you how simple the jailbreak will be!

Here’s the link for it from the video: http://ipad2jailbreakpdf.weebly.com/
Has anyone tried this yet? Does it work? Any bugs?

Anyone tried this? Does it work safely?

Never mind, it doesn’t work – at least on the latest os it just makes my safari crash. If you’ve tried this and your safari keeps crashing as soon as you open it, just go to settings and erase the safari history and cache.

    Safari just crashes for me.

Works perfect…People dont know how to follow instructions…you must be on 4.3…not 4.3.1 or 4.3.2 or 4.3.3…
You must have saved SHSH for 4.3 and use TinyUmbrella to downgrade your firmware…worked super smooth for me, no errors or anything…just make sure to backup ur device in iTunes before restore, and after downgrading to 4.3 just choose to restore from backup and it will remember all of your settings and apps (if you sync) …
Then just launch safari and go to the site posted in that video above and download the PDF…Cydia will install (as an AppStore app would) but then it will disappear…At that point manually reboot your device and upon next startup you will have Cydia on your home screen…Done! Its the newest version of Cydia 1.1.2 and it works perfect, Installous also works, and most tweaks work as well (so far…)

No bugs yet, however people with safari issues just have to go into settings and Clear the history, cookies, and cache…safari will be back to normal

    PS I heard it only works on Wi-Fi only devices…no 3G devices yet….I have white 16GB Wi-Fi iPad 2

    Good luck and enjoy :)

PS save your current 4.3.3 SHSH immediately cuz apple will be patching this exploit and 4.3.4 will be out shortly

No, its not that people don’t follow instructions. Its that comex already fixed it… The PDF downloads the stuff from a remote location, he probably moved it so it doesn’t work anymore.

Well I see slot of people commenting that it’s not working for them on 4.3.3…well obviously, it’s not suppose to work past 4.3 because in 4.3.1 apple patched that exploit…

Anyways, I guess I’m one of the lucky ones who got it in time :)
