The next iPad set to be announced on Wednesday’s media event will be called the ‘iPad HD’ according to what sources have told VentureBeat. Previously, a former Gizmodo report also brought up the ‘HD’ moniker as well. Moreover, further whispers of a smaller 7″ iPad have surfaced yet again:
Apple’s next-generation iPad will be called the iPad HD, not the iPad 3, a reliable source tells VentureBeat. Additionally, we’re hearing that Apple is now buying 7.1-inch screen components in preparation for a smaller iPad release later this year.
With the next iPad rumoured to sport a Retina Display, VentureBeat goes on to claim the next processor will sport a beefed up A5X dual core chip, rather than a quad core A6. Earlier, we heard reports of LTE capabilities for the next iPad to be announced on Wednesday’s event as well.
If you think today’s rumours have been outrageous, just wait to see what tomorrow will bring.
Update 1: Looks like CNET is hearing the same ‘iPad HD’ rumour as well:
A developer who’s previously provided reliable information with respect to things Apple and otherwise tells us the next iPad uses the HD moniker instead of going with “iPad 3.”
