Some last minute rumours have hit us, and this time it’s once again from iMore. Their source that correctly noted the March 7th iPad media event date has now told them the iPad 3 will support LTE, something the WSJ has previously reported too:
The same source that originally told iMore Apple would be holding their iPad 3 event on March 7 has now let us know that the announcement will include 4G LTE networking. We’d heard previously that 4G LTE would be coming to iOS in 2012, but not whether it would make the cut for iPad 3, or whether Apple would save it for iPhone 5 in October.
Moreover, they continue to hear the iPad 3 will sport the quad-core A6 processor, despite numerous reports of the next generation to stay dual core. The issue with A6 and LTE in the next iPad would be how Apple would respond to battery drain. Reports of the iPad 3 being slightly thicker by a millimetre or so hint at a possible larger battery capacity.
Currently, the ‘Big 3′ networks of Rogers, Telus, and Bell all have LTE networks up and running. Any LTE iPad would be fully supported in Canada. Bring on Wednesday!
