According to a report published by 9to5Mac, a Sprint-specific iPad is in the works and could be launched as early as next month. With the mobile carrier already confirmed to be bringing the iPhone to its line-up this October, it seems that a Sprint iPad 2 will also be joining the party soon. The source believes the Sprint iPad will be totally different from CDMA Verizon model though it is not yet confirmed if the iPad will support Sprint’s 4G WiMAX network or not.
Apple and Sprint have completed work on a version of the iPad for Sprint’s data network. This Sprint compatible iPad appears to be ready for public consumption and will join the family of GSM (AT&T) and Verizon capable Apple tablets before the holidays. With Apple soon launching a Sprint version of the iPhone – which we independently confirmed in June – we suspect that the Sprint iPad will come alongside or soon after that release.
If Sprint does get its own iPad 2 in the near future even without its 4G network support, it can easily beat the competition with its true unlimited data plans, something which neither AT&T nor Verizon seem to offer any their customers.
