While reports of Apple’s widely rumored ‘iPad Mini’ going into production in Brazil have already hit the web, new leaked parts of the purported device have been obtained by a Russian website UkrainianiPhone (via 9to5Mac) who claims to have secured these from a source who visited the factory in Asia. The parts reveal a white front panel/digitizer assembly, aluminum housing, a headphone jack at the bottom and a nano SIM tray.
The source claims that all these parts are from Apple’s forthcoming ‘iPad mini’. However, the LCD displays appear to be of the Kindle Fire rather than the iPad Mini, notes 9to5Mac. The remaining parts pretty much look like a bigger iPod.
Notables include the plastic spacer bars, which Apple has traditionally used for 3G and 4G radio equipment, and an Audio jack at the bottom like the new iPhones, iPods, and the nano SIM tray that “broke off during disassembly.”
The LCD displays appear to be of the same ilk as the recent Kindle Fire displays rather than the iPad Mini’s 4:3 display. So, take this with a few with pinches of salt.
It is interesting to note that a plastic strip along the top edge of the rear shell and a nano SIM tray indicate cellular-capable iPad models. The white front panel and digitizer part shows the narrow side bezels as well as holes for the home button and FaceTime camera.
Apple is expected to send out invitations for an iPad mini media event on October 10th.
