Apple is set to unveil its smaller iPad a.k.a the iPad Mini on October 23rd at an invite-only media event. A report published by The Next Web today is claiming that this iPad Mini launch event will have a heavy focus on iBooks because the device will be targeting smaller tablets like the Kindle Fire, that are generally used to consume content including books and movies.
The report also adds that it wouldn’t be surprising if there is a movie-centric announcement as well at the event:
The event will, of course, be primarily devoted a new hardware device, but the primary purpose of such a smaller tablet would be to act as a conduit for Apple’s content, namely iBooks publications and movies [...]
An iBooks-heavy event seems very likely, but we haven’t yet heard if Apple has anything in store for the other major kind of media people will be using an iPad mini for: movies.
Apple hasn’t yet made any official iPad Mini event announcement, though the location for the event is expected to be Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium.
