According to a report by Fortune from last week, Apple was expected to send out invitations to the media today, regarding a special ‘iPad Mini’ launch event rumored to take place on Oct. 17th. However, noon has passed without any such invite from Apple which pretty much suggests that the company may actually not hold an event on Oct. 17 after all, notes the Fortune.
“If the company were planning an Oct. 17 special event, we should have heard by now”, says Fortune’s Philip Elmer. He also admits that his source, who was a major Apple investor, was wrong about the timing and he was wrong himself to pass the tip along.
Looking at past three Apple media event invites, they were all received before 12:00 p.m. Eastern time. However, that time slot has already passed. Below are a couple of interesting tweets from The Loop‘s Jim Dalrymple and Macworld’s Chris Brennan:
Chris Brennan: BREAKING imaginary iPad mini event invite late, iPad mini DELAYED. Imaginary apology from Tim Cook expected. More at Unicorn o’clock.
Jim Dalrymple: I think I’ll take a break and go get some lunch. It’s a quiet day.
What do you think, will Apple surprise the world this time with a last-minute invite?
