Is This A Real iPad Mini? Leaked Photos Reveal Lightning Port, Dual Speakers & Mystery Hole [PICS]

by on September 18th, 2012

A couple of weeks back, an alleged iPad Mini rear shell was leaked from the Foxconn factory which assisted Chinese case makers in producing a variety of iPad Mini cases. Based on the same form factor, newly leaked photos of an alleged iPad Mini reveal the same features we’ve seen in the past i.e thinner bezels along the side, aluminum back plate and the same mystery hole in the top center of the tablet’s backside (via Nowhereelse.fr).

Looking closely at the photos, it seems that the pictures are taken from a working iPad unit showing a Chinese Weather app, along with Google Maps and YouTube apps which suggests the device is running iOS 5. Or it could be that the screen isn’t live and it is just another mockup display. Other noticeable thing is the Lightning dock on the bottom, alongside dual speakers.

It is believed that Apple will be announcing the iPad Mini at a dedicated event next month.
