More whispers of the iPad mini’s launch date have started to point to November 2nd, and this time it’s coming from TechCrunch. Their source notes the smaller iPad will ship a week and a half after next week’s October 23rd unveiling:
Apple’s iPad mini is almost certainly set to be announced next week at an event in San Jose Tuesday, and we’re now hearing that it will ship a week and a half after that unveiling. November 2 is the ship date we’ve heard today from a source close to Apple’s supply chain, echoing an earlier report by Geeky Gadgets that that’s the day the iPad mini will go on sale.
TechCrunch later says “our own source has also previously proven reliable with unreleased Apple info.”
With the important holiday period just around the corner, it will come down to supply chains and how quickly and efficiently Apple and its competitors can get these new smaller tablets into the hands of customers. Microsoft’s Surface is launching this Friday alongside Windows 8.
