Originally, the supposed iPad Mini was rumoured to launch alongside the iPhone (according to iMore), only to then be pushed back to a separate October event. Now, over at Fortune’s Apple 2.0, they are hearing invitations will be mailed out on the 10th of this month:
According to our source, who asked not be named, there appears to be some truth to the widespread rumors that Apple is preparing to launch a smaller and cheaper version of the iPad — often called the iPad mini or iPad air and usually described as having a 7.85-inch screen.
What our source adds is the specificity of a date: The press, he says, can expect invitations to go out on Oct. 10.
If this is indeed true, it is suggested an unveiling could occur on October 17th with a later November availability date in time for the important holiday shopping quarter.
Back in August, Bloomberg reported an iPad Mini would go on sale in October based on analyst research note, and further speculation ensued when numerous sites released mockups about an iPad Mini could entail, such as a 7.85-inch screen.
