According to a DigiTimes report, Apple’s upstream suppliers are preparing materials for the production of the next iPad.
In an odd move, the DigiTimes report indicates that the rumored iPad 3 is expected in September/October 2011. The current iPad 2 was just launched this March 2011 in Canada.
In other words, a fall 2011 launch for the iPad 3 would give the device a significantly shorter product life cycle than normal.
Taiwan-based companies included in the supply chain for iPhone 5 and iPad 3 have begun to prepare materials for the production of the two devices, which are likely to make their debuts in September and to hit the market in October, according to industry sources.
The report further predicts that the iPad 3 will be an even thinner and lighter device than the current iPad 2, with display resolution increased to 250dpi.
