Reports today point to Apple possibly using Samsung AMOLED displays for the next-generation iPad, or iPad 3.
The story specifically reports that Apple COO Tim Cook recently visited Samsung in South Korea to discuss the possibility of using active matrix OLED displays for the iPad 3.
“Apple wants to tap into Samsung’s AMOLED technology for an upgraded version of the iPad 2″. Samsung uses an AMOLED display in its Galaxy S 2 smartphones, but not in its tablet PC, the Galaxy Tab.
The iPad 2 missed out on the Retina Display, despite the iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touch receiving the upgraded screen tech.
However, if these Apple-Samsung talks go well, we may finally see a Retina Display for the iPad 3.
