SaskTel To Offer Mobile Tablet Plans

by on September 18th, 2010

If you have mobile service from SaskTel or are within range of the carrier towers, there is some good news coming in the form of new wireless services.

According to SaskTel, the Canadian wireless company has plans to release “Mobile Tablet” plans. In other words, plans that work with an iPad 3G!

The monthly, non-contracted price plans are very similar to the current offerings from Bell, Telus, and Rogers:

  • 500MB: $20/month (overage fees are $0.05/MB; US data roaming is $3/MB)
  • 5GB: $35/month (overage fees are $0.05/MB; US data roaming is $3/MB)

It’s great that these packages are comparable to existing plans from competing companies, as it gives Canadians more options for iPad data!

Also note that activating a Mobile Tablet plan will require customers to pay an “activation fee”. However, this fee may or may not change by the time the plans go public.

I got the same 500MB plan for my iPhone 4…they said they’ll probably have more options later on (ie, if and when they get the iPhone).

What I want to know is will they have the same in-app support that Rogers has? I love the fact that I can buy data exactly when I need it right from within the iPad.
