Report: iPad 2 to Support Enhanced A4 Chip

by on February 15th, 2011

As first reported on sister site iPhoneinCanada.ca, Digitimes has news that Apple is planning a new A5 chip for the upcoming iPhone 5. What about the A4 chip? Apparently an ‘enhanced’ version of the A4 will coming to iPad 2.

Made by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), I would suspect performance increases would be for graphics, and overall system fluidity–similar to moving from the iPhone 3G to iPhone 3GS.

According to Digitimes Research, the iPad 2 will support an enhanced version of the A4 and the A5 will power the iPhone 5. TSMC will initially produce the improved A4, and could likely become the exclusive manufacturer of the A5.

iPad 2 is rumoured to have an enhanced display, and production has already started.

Come on Apple, enough with the leaks, bring us iPad 2 already! ;)

I love how immediately following a post called, ‘the iPad rumor mill needs to die,’ you post an iPad rumor. Put up or shut up! Like someone else said, though, without the incessant iPad rumours going around, you might not have anything to report on here as these seem to comprise the bulk of stories you post. You don’t post much about apps, or what people are actually *doing* with their iPads… There are a million iPad stories out there. If you really don’t like the rumours, then start ignoring them and post about what’s actually happening.

  • Seriously??

Agreed with Bigdaddyhame that your next article after “the iPad rumor mill needs to die” is another rumour. Seriously? If you don’t even listen to your own articles…why should we?

Don’t listen to them. These rumours fuel me!
