This week, CNN has put together a list of their ten biggest tech trends of 2010. The list highlights technology and Internet products that were successful during 2010.
As you could have guessed, CNN ranked the iPad in the top spot for tech trends for 2010. CNN points out that at the beginning of 2010, no one knew what an iPad was nor did consumers really have a clear idea of what tablet computing was.
Once the iPad launched, and the many tablet computers following, the tablet industry blew up into success, especially for Apple.
Outside of the techno-geek community, few had even heard of tablet computers — the hybrid, missing link between smartphones and laptops.
Then in late January, that all changed. With the unveiling of Apple’s much-anticipated tablet computer, Apple didn’t invent tablet computing. But the gang from Cupertino, California, certainly pushed it into the mainstream.
Now, 13 million or so sales later, the Apple gadget is at the top of the list of gadgets that children 6 to 12 want to see under the tree this year, according to Nielsen research.
Other than the iPad, Apple is mentioned again regarding the iPhone 4, the overall smartphone wars, and briefly regarding mobile applications.
