Digitimes is reporting that Pegatron Corp, the leading manufacturer of Apple’s iOS devices, has already received production orders for the upcoming iPad 3 which is set to launch in March 2012. The report also claims that significantly larger production orders are expected for Apple’s “iPad 4″ which is scheduled to launch in October 2012, with an initial volume of about 7-10 million units. However, Pegatron has not yet commented on the report.
Meanwhile, Pegatron has announced its consolidated revenues for 2011. Quoting from the source:
Pegatron shipped about 15.45-15.7 million notebooks in 2011 and is expected to ship 19-20 million units in 2012. Although Asustek has been shifting out its orders from Pegatron, Asustek will still place orders for about 10 million notebooks to Pegatron in 2012.
For the game console business, Pegatron is also said to continue producing Sony’s next-generation Playstation 4 system.
Pegatron has announced consolidated revenues of NT$40.87 billion (US$1.35 billion) for December of 2011, down 17.8% on month, but up 31% on year, with consolidated revenues for 2011 reached NT$485.16 billion, up 14.2% on year.
The sources also pointed out that Apple will start changing its outsourcing strategy and will have Pegatron primarily focus on production of the iPad series products while directing Foxconn Electronics towards the production of iPhone models.
