While we got a preview of the official Facebook iPad app via a hack, it appears the social network could plan for a surprise announcement at its upcoming sold out f8 developer conference, taking place on September 22nd.
F8 is known for its debut of key Facebook features such as the ‘Like’ button and other personalizations. This year’s conference is being held much later in the year, unlike previous years. As always, the company is mum on details about what is expected to come, as per the WSJ:
It is a “developer-focused event,” said spokeswoman Caryn Marooney. “We try to do f8 when we have something to talk about that developers will care about.”
The 8 in the name represents the 8 hours after your normal work day when you “can hack on what you’re truly passionate about,” said Marooney.
iOS 5 is set to debut this Fall, and an official Facebook iPad app release would certainly be the icing on the cake.
