As we get closer to the New Year, the next-generation iPad rumors continue to pile up. This week, a new rumor from Mac Otakara indicates that the next-generation iPad will retain its current 9.7-inch display but use a design similar to the iPod touch with a focus on audio.
Recent photos revealed a large back slot on the next-generation iPad. That slot is reportedly for a larger, better-sounding speaker instead of SD card capabilities. Additionally, the new device is to feature a rear five-megapixel camera and front VGA camera, similar to the iPhone 4.
The design of the new iPad back would is also reportedly changing to be flat like the iPod, but the dimensions would be smaller, losing 3mm of thickness and 3.7mm of width.
According to the source, production has already started with shipments due in late January 2011 which is about a month earlier than previous reports of shipments in February. The actual launch of the device is likely to be Spring again.
What do you think? Better audio and dual cameras?
