Just yesterday, Apple seeded the second beta of iOS 5.1 to developer community and like always, they’ve already started exploring. Once again, Apple seems to have left some references to an upcoming iOS product in the latest beta firmware’s source code which TUAW strongly believes to be of the next generation iPad 3. This is however not the first time that any reference of iPad 3 has been discovered in a developer iOS build since iOS 5.1 beta 1 also had similar references.
According to the source:
In between the garbage, there’s a reference to the iPad 3. Each reference has a device id of 1, so we know it points to an actual device. Finding the iPad 3 isn’t all that surprising as we have seen similar references before. This discovery is just another piece of evidence that suggests Apple will start selling the tablet this spring.
Interestingly, there is no reference to an iPhone 5 as discovered in earlier developer builds alongside the iPad 3. Nonetheless, this does not rule out the possibility of an all new iPhone next year, though its launch could be a little farther off then expected.
