As noted by iLounge, it appears that among all of the great features announced yesterday, such as two cameras and Photo Booth, during Apple’s iPad 2 media event, there was no mention of photo and video sharing through MobileMe.
The lack of MobileMe also extends to Apple’s website. It seems that users may only be able to upload photos and HD video to YouTube or share via email.
Obscured by the many iPad 2-related announcements yesterday, Apple failed to make any mention of MobileMe-based video or photo uploading during its media event. A quick scan of Apple’s iPad 2 mini-site shows that no references are made to sharing photos or videos via MobileMe, although the service is still mentioned by name in references to synchronization and location-based services.
The MobileMe omission does lineup with Apple’s recent decision to remove MobileMe retail boxes from Apple Retail Stores. This decision also continued to spark rumors that Apple may be overhauling the MobileMe service.
iOS 4.3 has not yet been publicly released, so there could be last minute changes that reintroduce MobileMe. We’ll see on March 11th.
