Today, Apple updated its iWork for iPad productivity suite to version 1.3 to support iOS 4.2.
All three productivity apps now support multitasking, allowing users to switch away from the apps and have the apps latest state saved. The new iWork update also brings AirPrint, including page or slide range options, setting the number of copies, and duplex printing.
The “Tools” menu across all three apps has also been simplified, with more frequently used settings placed at the top and less needed settings moved to the bottom of the menu.
Specific Updates in iWork 1.3
Keynote received presenter notes and presenter-display support in the latest update. Now, when an iPad is connected to an external display, Keynote will display the current slide, the next slide, or your own notes on the iPad’s display. Presenter-display was a major missing feature prior to Keynote 1.3.
Numbers 1.3 now has the ability to preview how a worksheet will print across multiple pages, including a handy “Auto Fit” button. PDF exporting can also now use the pagination settings available in the print preview pane. Lastly, Numbers now has support for formula entry using a keyboard, including a helpful predictive-function selector.
Pages 1.3 now features automatic pagination of tables that cross over a page break and several usability improvements, including font-size selection and bold/italic/underline indicators in the ruler. The update also patched some issues when importing Pages ’09 and Microsoft Word documents.
The iWork 1.3 is a free update to existing iWork customers and will be available soon on the App Store.
