Reports today point to inventory levels of the first-generation iPad beginning to decrease among retailers in the UK and Canada.
On Canadian shores, it is said that Future Shop locations are very low in inventory, with some locations reportedly sold out. For the UK, retailer Carphone Warehouse is reportedly sold out of 64GB Wi-Fi iPad models and all 3G tablets.
Other news from the UK indicates that Orange and T-Mobile, two of the major wireless providers, have reduced prices for iPad 3G devices on contract. For example, on a two-year contract, an Orange iPad 3G previously cost a minimum of £200 to £230 depending if the customer was new or existing. The iPad 3G hardware is now only £99 for both Orange and T-Mobile.
For the US, inventory seems stable with iPad hardware shipping within 24 hours from the Apple Online store.
With the hardware price cuts, and decreased inventory availability, Apple may be preparing to send out the first-generation iPad in place of the upcoming second-generation model.
With all of the recent iPad 2 rumors, the device is rumored to already be in production with possible ship dates in either March or April 2011.
