Apple has pre-sold hundreds of thousands of iPad units since the opening pre-order availability on March 12, 2010. It was estimated that the device was selling at 25,000 units per hour, which is absolutely staggering.
While the USA may be getting their pre-order on, Canada is still left to wait. Earlier today we discussed the possibility of an iPad pre-order hitting Canadian shores, but things may look grim not only for Canadians but American iPad buyers as well.
According to DigiTimes, Wintek, a Taiwan based touch panel supplier, has been blamed for delays surrounding Apple’s iPad shipments. Wintek is apparently facing manufacturing bottlenecks in its touch panel production which has delayed shipments to Apple.
In response, Wintek has filed a statement with the Taiwan Stock Exchange stating that its operations have been running smoothly, but the company declined to comment on specific clients.
With such high pre-order amounts coming out of the USA and manufacturing problems already appearing, the chances of a Canadian iPad pre-order may be slim.
