Earlier today, Digital Daily published a report about the profitability of Apple Retail. In Apple’s last quarter, which is Q3 for the company, Apple Retail Stores brought in $2.58 billion, an increase of almost 73% from the second quarter of 2009.
In a rather interesting comparison, the report notes that the $2.58 billion received is “greater than the company’s total quarterly revenue from the second quarter of fiscal 1996 through the fourth quarter of fiscal 2004.” So who gets the credit for success? iPad.
While the iPad is not a sole contributor to the success of Apple Retail, the device is being given credit for the majority of the increase in revenue, especially since the iPad has increased store visitors by almost 39%, increased same-store revenues by 53%, and also increased non-Mac revenues by a staggering 106%.
In recent years, Apple Retail Stores have been said to have more than double the gross sales per square foot than many high-end retailers such as Tiffany’s and Harry Winston. For a product category that many thought would fail, the iPad has brought success to Apple as a whole.
