iPad 2′s Thinner Glass Display is Stronger than First iPad [Video]

by on March 27th, 2011

The iPad 2 is thinner compared to the original iPad, and part of this is due to the thickness of the glass being reduced by 27%. Other factors include thinner batteries and tapered edges in the iPad 2 design.

What’s remarkable is the iPad 2′s thinner glass is also much stronger compared to the original iPad, as seen in the following tests performed by iFixYouri. The iPad 2′s glass is also much more flexible, too.

Kudos to the reviewer for not slicing his fingers open with this test. Check it out below:

One of the first things I noticed about the iPad2(besides the obvious of course) is that the screen seemed to have some flex or squish when I tapped on it. Guess this explains why.

Yes, I also rad that news said “Report: iPad 2 Display Almost Identical In Perfomance To iPhone 4“, I think this is why so many iPad owners still stick to update to iPad 2!
