iPad 2 To Feature The Same Camera As The Fourth-Generation iPod Touch?

by on January 21st, 2011

Another day, another iPad 2 camera rumor!

Digging through the latest iOS 4.3 Beta 2 SDK release, 9To5Mac reports that the next-generation iPad, codenamed “K94″, may not feature a 5-megapixel camera, as found on the iPhone 4.

Instead, the unreleased device may take photos using a 1-megapixel camera, with 720p video recording. For comparison, the fourth-generation iPod touch features a 0.7 megapixel rear camera with 720p video recording.

The front-facing camera on the iPad 2 will reportedly be VGA and will allow users to take video, just like with the iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touch.

It is unfortunate that the iPad 2 may feature such a low-quality back camera, especially when compared to the iPhone 4. However, this may be due to the rumored tapered edges of the iPad 2, as the many photo leaks over the last several weeks have revealed.

What do you think? Is a 1-megapixel camera reasonable for the iPad 2?
