iPad 2 Launches In Canada; 2-3 Weeks Shipping Online

Today marks the official launch day of the iPad 2 in Canada! WooHoo!!! Online sales are LIVE and retail sales will begin later this evening at 5PM local time.

Many Canadians started lining up yesterday afternoon and evening, with many more lining up early this morning. No matter where you go, it’s going to be crazy!

Apple.ca has iPad 2 ship times as “2-3 weeks”. So it looks like there is an International delay for iPad 2. But, Apple always overestimates these times so I would really put them at 1-2 weeks.

Wow, I actually got my hands on one! I just happened to walk into Walmart after work, I was the 4th in line, and that’s all they had. A few minutes later and I would have been out of luck. I have only had it for a couple hours but it is an amazing piece of technology and boy is it ever thin!

Futureshop, in Pointe-Claire Quebec. Showed up at 3:30 wa s 12th in line and had my wifi iPad by 5:20.

Wifi because I’ll use my iPhone hotspot to tether.

u can’t cancel any online order once you order it.. you can only wait until it arrives then return it for a refund. – -but you can’t return anything that’s been engraved.

That’s completely false. You are able to cancel any order as long as it has not yet shipped. Once it has been prepared then you must wait and return. I cancelled mine with a few clicks and got a confirmation email.

Bought on-line at 1:14 a.m. 64 GB wi-fi, black, with red smart cover, engraved, and received confirmation email. NOW I have just received ANOTHER confirmation email, for the same items, different order number, timed for 1:46 p.m. YIKES!!!!!!! Cancel, cancel that second order FAST!!! I wonder how that happened???? (Because I keep going in to look at delivery times, I wonder?)

I stand corrected. you can cancel online order if it hasn’t shipped .. but you can’t return any product with engraving. My sister told me if I had only told her that my dad had offered to buy me an iPad2 she’d have gotten it for me at Yorkdale when she bought hers. Oh well. I m happy waiting for it to be delivered. Besides… I suspect it will ship sooner than what they have indicated. Better to say it take longer and deliver it sooner than the opposite.

I was just able to cancel the duplicate order (engraved) I made on-line. If you click on the order number on your confirmation email, you can review your order, and there is a cancellation option. And I got a confirmastion of the cancellation.

yeah.. feel the same way Im up at 0500 normally so getting up an hour early was no big deal…best part .. I m not paying for it… it was a gift from my dad…..ordered iPad 16GB black with pink Smart Cover…. ships on April 15, arriving April 22…but I m betting it ships sooner.

I showed up at London Drugs in Duncan BC at 4:45. They said they had 10 iPads at 32 and 64, all Wifi. I had my 64 by 5:01. They still had some left five minutes ago when I left the store.

I picked up the camera adaptor too. I understand I can put video onto an SD card and play it from there. This will be great for taking lots of movies on long vacations.

I won’t have any stories of standing in line for 24 hours. But in just a few minutes I’ll be using my iPad out on the deck looking at the Pacific Ocean.

There’s something to be said for small town life.

I ordered one this morning just after 1AM. I hit up some stores in Victoria, BC just to see if I could get one sooner. Pretty disappointing quantities around here. Nearest Best Buy didn’t even get one of each model (The Langford store), The Millstream Futureshop had about 25-30 from what I could tell and the London Drugs in Colwood got 5 total. Looks like I am waiting 2-3 weeks with the other online orders.

Arrived at the Ottawa Apple store and got in line at 5:10pm. Was in the store by 6:10pm Walked out 5 mins later. 32GB 3G Black, black leather smart cover.

Well.. went to Bestbuy in Ottawa at 6:10pm,,, approx 40 – 50 ppl in line.. got a 16gb WIFI then 10 mins later my wife joined the line and got a 16gb black…

So by the time 5pm rolled around there were almost 40 people waiting for the iPad2 at Future Shop in Vernon, BC. And amazingly everyone of us was able to get an iPad. There is definitely an advantage to being in a small town sometimes.

my shitty launch day: woke up at 3:30AM. watched some big bang theory. Kept hitting CMD+R and eventually I bought my green Smart Cover with a 32GB White iPad 2 WiFi+3G!

Went to Brantford future shop from Mississauga. They still have some left but No 32g wifi model available

Well even though I ordered IPad 2 online, I thought I would check out the local stores, Simply in Victoria at 4:30 and only 6 people in line… but it turned out this was because they only had 6 Ipads to sell, then went to best buy who were sold out fairly quickly, my wife was at London drugs and they were also sold out seemed they had maybe 10 to sell. Not sure what they had at Futureshop but it sure seems Victoria stores received very few IPads to sell.

What’s actually disgusting is the craiglist prices today! I hate this bull! I got my white 32gb wifi in Ontario for a tad bit over $700 yet asking on CG is $850-$950

The futureshop I got mine off says they might restock on Tuesday march 29 – I got mine at Richmond hill Ontario location and I got there at 425pm – big line but I was lucky! Guys don’t get desperate – either order online or keep calling ur local futureshop, best buy or walmart and apple store! Happy hunting for the rest who still need one…

was 1st in line @ futureshop in pointe claire, Qc @ 3pm, really surprising, by 5pm, there were about 30ish ppl, i was out of the store by 5:09pm, really glad, coz i checked the apple store faireview mall, line up was too big by 2:30pm, however they still had stock left at closing time so if someone is still looking.

I thought that I would drop a short note to say that I got my 64 ipad at the Apple Rideau Center tonight. Two very big thumbs up to the staff at the Apple store. They were organized, cheerful and super helpful.

Also when I left the store after 830PM they still had stock – so you might want to check it on Saturday morning.

Apple Store Carrefour Laval had 16 Gigs iPad left at 11h00 AM this Saturday morning, no lineups.

They still had Smartcovers, but no Red ones left.

My launch day experience was pretty exciting as I only had to wait for 1/2 hour without a preorder! I went to the Best Buy in South Surrey, BC and there was around 45-50 people ahead of me, so I though that there was a better chance of me getting my 32GB 3G black one that I preferred to get. However by the time I got my ticket, there was only 32GB Wifi, 64Gb Wifi and 64GB 3G in white. I needed to get a 3G one for travel so I got the 64Gb 3G in white! I checked my ticket afterwards and it said 10 of 10. It’s sad how for such a hyped launch that they only ordered 10 of one model. I saw someone else’s ticket (32Gb wifi black) and theirs said 5 out of 5. ONLY 5 OF ONE FUCKING MODEL?!?! This is very disappointing for something that should be available for everyone else to get the day after launch for the people that don’t want/can’t wait in line. Best buy should do better next time. I didn’t get any accessories with it at time of purchase but I am getting the smart cover across the border for the savings and maybe the Digital AV adapter or the dock, I’m not sure right now. I’m really happy that I got my iPad when I did because of the 2-3 week shipping wait right now. I think I’m the only one that goes to my high school that has one! Overall it was a great experience and I love my iPad 2!

The apple stores will always have the most stock. I don’t think that was Best Buy’s fault, it’s up to how much they are given I think. I went to Walmart and they only had 4-5 total and all wifi only.

I ordered an iPad 2 Wifi+3G 64GB White at exactly 1:11 PDT, the very second it got online. The shipping thing was already 2 to 3 weeks, and I just received confirmation that my Smart Cover (Leather, Navy) shipped out and arrives April the 5th.
