HP Bows Out by Dropping TouchPad Prices to $99 at Future Shop and Best Buy

by on August 20th, 2011

A few days ago HP announced they were no longer going to support webOS-based hardware, such as their barely out of the gate TouchPad, and phones such as the Palm Pre line up. The TouchPad was touted as something that would be better than the iPad.

TouchPad sales have been dismal and retailers such as Best Buy in the USA have been sitting on unsold inventory. So what’s HP to do? Hold a massive fire sale in Canada to unload product for $99 and $149!

Thanks to a leak by PreCentral, the TouchPad is selling for $99/$149 for the 16/32GB model at both Future Shop and Best Buy. Other official retailers such as London Drugs and Staples are matching the price too.

The only problem? Trying to find one in stock. Most retailers matched the leaked prices last night, so good luck trying to acquire one. $99 for a webOS tablet is probably the deal of the decade! Let us know if you managed to grab a piece of HP/Palm history.
