How to Tether your SLR Camera to the iPad

by on November 7th, 2010

Are you an avid photographer? If you are and you have an iPad, Lee Morris over from FStoppers.com has an amazing video for you to see. Using his jailbroken iPad (and MyWi), an Eye-Fi Connect X2 SDHC, the app ShutterSnitch, and his dSLR, Lee is able to watch his snapped photos stream directly to the iPad after pressing the shutter. Awesome.

How it works is the Eye-Fi SDHC will connect to the SSID you create with MyWi (you don’t need a data plan) and ShutterSnitch will also connect to the Eye-Fi to display your pics. This opens new doors for serious photographers with iPads. This is a great setup if you need to check photos at events such as weddings or just during photo shoots to verify focus points and clarity of your shots. Check out the video below:

I do this with a standard read not jail broken iPad all the time.

It does require a portable and or battery operated WiFi Hub such as the Zalip CDM530AM, and an Eye-Fi X2 Pro card. Rob Galbraith does a very thorough job covering using the iPad with WiFi on his pro photography web blog at http://www.robgalbraith.com.

    Best to all.
