How To Activate AirPrint On Windows

by on November 25th, 2010

One of the major new features in iOS 4.2.1 is AirPrint, which is the ability to print documents from the iPad over a local wireless network. At this time, AirPrint is Mac only and even then, only works exclusively with a few HP printers.

For Mac users that do not have an AirPrint-compatible printer, there is a Mac application called Printopia that will get things rolling for you. However, there has not been much love for the Windows crowd.

Well, if you are a Windows user and want AirPrint functionality, you’re in luck! There is a new tool called ‘AirPrint Activator’ that will get you printing wirelessly from your iPad.

The tool works on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows systems and setup requires three steps. The steps are in German but here is a rough translation:

1.) Download the one-click tool and install it to activate AirPrint for Windows.

2.) In your Windows Control Panel, ensure that your chosen printer is shared.

3.) Ensure that the AirPrint.exe is enabled in Windows Firewall (or other firewall software).

Let me know in the comments of your successes and/or issues!

Not working here neither. It also tells me that AirPrint is already activated. I then wanted to allow AirPrint.exe in the firewall, but I can’t find this program. Where should I have it from?
PS: I have some other good APPS from Aneesoft want to recommend. Maybe someone will like it.
