Earlier today Apple released iOS 5.1 beta 3 to developers. Beta 2 was released back in December. Now, according to a discovery by @sonnydickson (via 9to5Mac), it appears the ‘About Dictation and Privacy’ screen within the latest beta makes references to Siri dictation.
Currently, Siri dictation is only available on the iPhone 4S. Both devices share the same dual core A5 chip, so any argument about the lack of processing power to support Siri on the iPad 2 will be hard to believe. It is possible Siri could be made as an exclusive feature of the next generation iPad, as we saw with the iPhone 4S.
Take a look at the image below–the first sentence reads:
“When you use the keyboard dictation feature on your device, the things you dictate will be recorded and sent to Apple to convert what you say into text.”
Expect more ‘discoveries’ as iOS 5.1 beta 3 is further dissected.
