As reported by MacStories (via technologia UOL), the first Apple production facility in Jundiaí, Brazil is ready and is already manufacturing the December 2011 batch of iPads for the Cupertino giant as confirmed by Aolizio Mercadante, the Brazilian Minister of Science and Technology during a hearing with the Commission of Economic Affairs.
Production of future lot of iPads which will also be the first “Made in Brazil” Apple product, is a joint venture of Foxconn, the biggest manufacturer of Apple’s devices such as iPhone/ iPad and the government of Brazil.
At first many doubted, but it will be the first time that the company will produce iPads outside Chinese territory. We are taking a big step for digital inclusion in the country,” he said. Mercadante also said that the federal government will announce in the coming days to invest in a big factory of games in the Manaus Free Zone.
Previous reports regarding this new production facility suggest Foxconn is investing $12 billion in Brazil and has already hired 175 engineers from the country and sent them to China for training on how to build the iPads.
So guys, do you think the next iPad we buy will have a different label at the back then the one we usually see on an Apple product i.e. “Designed by Apple in California, Made in Brazil“ ?
