Yesterday, Amazon.com was spotted making preparations to sell the iPad when it becomes available in the USA on April 3, 2010. Today, another large retailer, Best Buy, has also been spotted getting ready for the launch.
According to people familiar with the matter, Best Buy has begun to prepare for the launch of the Wi-Fi iPad on April 3, 2010 by providing its employees with details of the launch day event. At this time, the only Best Buy locations to sell the iPad will be locations that have the “store-within-a-store” Apple sections. In the USA, that makes up about 675 of the 1000 Best Buy locations.
iPad display material is said to arrive next week at the specific Best Buy locations and store merchandise planograms indicate that two MacBooks and an iMac will be removed to make room for iPad demo units.
Regarding the morning of April 3rd, Best Buy locations will not be opening early, as the company believes it would offer little benefit. So, just as Apple had said it a few weeks ago, both Apple direct and Best Buy will be carrying the iPad in April.
In Canada, the majority of people are definitely closer to a Best Buy than an Apple Store, so lets hope Best Buy Canada has the iPad available for sale as well!
