I will be lining up at Southgate mall in Edmonton probably between 4 and 5 am on Friday morning. Hope to see some other people there!

I was thinking hitting southgate (edmonton). Are you going to the north end doors by the Safeway? I was also thinking of 5am.

Is 7am too late or to early? Fairview mall.

I was planning on lining up by the outside doors right close to the Apple store. I think that’s where safeway is? Where the old food court used to be. As soon as you walk in it’s Coles on your left, Apple store on your right. Is that normally where people line up? The mall was already open when I lined up for my iPhone 4 last summer.

I’ll be lining up at the Apple Store downtown Vancouver if anyone else is planning on going. I haven’t decided what time I plan to go yet, but it will probably be in the morning sometime.

Just phoned Southgate the lady told me they open the doors to the Mall at 7am so that’s probably when we will be allowed in. 2 hours outside shouldn’t be too bad. Hope it doesn’t snow!

I dont know really… But I guess 5 hours ahead should be good enough if u r not urgent to be those head ones…beside if u have extra time, u can definitly go early, just to make sure, or u can even help pay tousled part of ur iPad by selling ur spot~

I’ll be interested to see where SouthGate allows people to line up. Remember, during the original iPad and iPhone 4 launches Restoration Hardware wasn’t open. So there was lots of room to lineup outside the Apple Store. Now with Restoration Hardware open, I’m sure they won’t want people blocking the store. We’ll see what happens.

Sorry but this is the harsh truth

I am going to square one in Mississauga but can’t decide on a time. 5 am seems too early especially without a buddy for breaks, etc. Maybe 9 am?? Any suggestions from anyone who has stood in a line there in the past? I know for the iPhone 4 launch, that was in the AM, I talked to someone who arrived at 10 am on the launch day and still got a phone. Wonder what type of inventory they will have?

Hey we all have our vices. All of us here happen to love Apple devices, there are a lot worse things to be obsessed about. Don’t tear us down simply because you don’t feel how we do.

By no means am I the biggest Apple fan. I have a PC @ home and I run Android phone. I’m doing it just to say that I have done it. I do think Apple makes an excellent product, and that’s why I’m getting a couple iPads. Its a cultural phenomenon and want to experience it. Good or bad…

Based on my experience on March 11 at the Alderwood Store in North Seattle I was in the lineup at 1 and easily got one but by about 3:30 the lineup became huge.

I just checked out the shipping times when people in the US bought the iPad at the 1 AM launch time…people started getting shipping times of 3-5 business days (after processing by Apple, so let’s say 5-7 total).

Last year I went to the apple store in Ottawa at 1pm after the 8am launch, there was no line and they still had hundreds of iPads. Why are people planning to wait for 10 hours? I’m going to go around 6pm or 7pm on Friday to get mine.

You do have a point, but no one can be certain as to how much stock each store will have. Some people like myself are just big enough fans that we want to ensure that we get it on day one. Some places you’ll have no issue walking into a store and grabbing one, but at other stores it might be a few hundred people waiting in line. With the stock issues as they are, if you don’t get one on launch day, chances are you’ll have a hard time finding one for a while.

People didn’t know what an iPad was last year…initial demand was slower…I was able to go to Buffalo the week after US launch and buy without waiting….not so this time around…Buffalo is sold out….and so will the Apple stores in Canada.

I’m lining up at Yorkdale by 10am with a friend. We’re bringing foldable stools, food, drink, snacks, and movies on my iPad. Might set my alarm for 4am EST (1am PDT) just to order online first to ensure we get the model we want. If I do get one in store, I can either return the online one when it arrives or sell it if there is still a shortage in Canada.

Ya man im planning on going to Fairview (pointeclaire) looking at showing up around 10-11am. My theory for going there is 1. its indoors, and 2. the west island is so far to get there one should drive and if you have a car to drive in theory you should be working on a Friday, me im on vacation.

I don’t think 6am is too early at all, at least my from past experience from lining up for the iPhone 4 launch in Canada. Also, IMO, it’s better to line up early than waiting for the people ahead of us setting up their iPads inside the store.

I”m probably gonna hit the futureshop in Dartmouth at 10 AM, I just called and they don’t have a clue yet as to how they will manage the lineup…

For the iPhone 4 launch, I was there at 5:30 am and I was about 100th in line. I still ended up being there until noon before I got my iPhone due to Roger’s activation system being down. Luckily, if you aren’t getting a 3G version, the line should be moving a little quicker.

The Apple store opened at 7 am for the launch. There was a lineup outside that went from the doors nearest the Apple store around the corner by the time I showed up at 5:30, but they let us all into the mall at 6 am.

Once the line was let in, they had us line up in the hallway until the store opened and then only let 3 or 4 people in the store at a time.

From my experience, I would suggest showing up at Polo Park before 5 am. I haven’t decided what I’m doing yet. I already have an iPad, so whether I get the iPad 2 on release day doesn’t matter so much to me.

I expect the shipping times to be exactly the same as it was for the iPhone 4 when it launched in Canada.
When it did, even if you ordered the minute it went on sale it was 3-4 weeks. Because of the high demand, I can’t see the iPad 2 shipping earlier than 3 weeks.

I’ll likely just start lining-up around 5:00pm, so long as Apple Store staff are taking down names, to do their best with keeping track of the line’s demand on iPad models. Also, assuming they have similar first-day supply and demand, I was able to get an iPad with no problems (~8:00pm) at Pacific Centre, but only the 64B model was left.

Im going to swing by at 8-9am and see how every things going. If a lot of people are waiting then im going to wait and if they aren’t, im going to come back about 3 hours b4 launch……………

I talked to someone over at futureshop and they said there shouldnt be a large crowd. But then again you never know.

read on twitter today that each store is getting a minimum of two models and around 10 ipads per store. You should be able to get one there but wont have much of a choice.

West Edmonton Mall will have the bigger lines. It is the flagship store in Alberta as it was the first. So it usually gets more stock than the others.
As I posted earlier – the Apple Store at West Edmonton Mall is staying open until midnight on Friday. To me that indicates it knows its getting a rather large shipment of iPad 2′s so its staying open past mall hours to accomodate everyone. OR Apple feels it’ll be helping a lot of people set up their iPad 2 and need the extra time.

Sorry VCapplefan, my brain must’ve been not functioning properly. The closest entrance by the Apple store is actually the side entrance where everybody else lines up. It’s the one near the washrooms.

That may be a bit late if you want a specific model/color. Who knows how many will be in line. Defiantly check forums and twitter to see how it’s going and if the line is getting long you can always cut your last class or 2. It’s worth it.

I will also be going to Ajax Best-Buy and was planning on lining up at 5 a.m but I think that may be too early.

Went to Sommerset Collection in Michigan for the US iPad 2 launch, line seemed fairly logn when I arrived at 4:30pm, took me 3hours to get in and out, my friend and I each got one 16gb wifi and one 32gb wifi, only the 3G at&t models were sold out at that time. I’d assume the lines would be crazier here, I’d say 3pm or earlier would be ideal…
I sold all my iPad 2′s from the US, now I want one for keeps, I want to lineup at Bestbuy here, I’m thinking to go around 3pm (which is probabyl the earliest I am able to go) and try to secure one on apple.ca when that goes live just in case I can’t find one in-store, I wouldn’t mind waiting for one to arrive.

That’s pretty much what I’ll be doing, too. If the shipping is 4-5 weeks, then I’ll probably leave work early and head to the Anjou Best Buy. I think my chances are better there than at a downtown location.

I’m bringing my iPad (games, reading, tweeting), chair, food etc. Security has said they’ve had hundreds of calls re: opening so expect a line. Also, there is no point going tonight unless you like camping outside … they will lock you out.

Today Thursday around 3 pm I visited the Best Buy in Richmond Hill ON. I spoke to 3 different folks including one in computers. They all know nothing other than where to line up – outside the front door but they have no idea whether they will give out numbers or … They do not have supply yet. They expect it overnight after the store closes.

So i was getting there from 6am to 9am at Ste-Catherine store and he was taking my place while i’m work… and was going back with him at 12pm….. I got in line at Sherway at 4 am for the 7 am launch. It took a while to get the phone but that wasn’t the line’s fault, it was Rogers’ servers fault. 3 hours early was more than enough.

Ordered a 32 GB Wifi and a Smart Cover. Easy. Hope that April 22 delivery date is wrong, but at least I don’t freeze my rear in line somewhere or waste time traveling back and forth to the stores.

I hate to admit it, but you are totally right.

Mine has gotten WORSE since I got it on the 11th.

No, in typical fashion they were late. Everything about this whole thing has made me see Apple in a negative light. They had all the time in the world to be ready for this, and they can’t seem to get things right. People lining up and getting nothing, stores refusing to give any information, no structure or reason to anything. Seems they like the idea of chaos.

My husband went to scout out BB in S. London and was told that ppl waiting for ipad launch will have to wait outside all day! They also alluded to possibly doing a voucher system but with only appx. 8ppl in line they ruled that out.

Line up at future shop at Guelph will be outside all day… Funnn… Really angry with future shop overall. VERY unorganized, horrible customer service, and they gave me wrong information!! If i knew i was going to be waiting outside I would’ve went to square one. Will never buy anything from future shop again.

There are 100 ppl in line right now at 11am. I spoke to security and mall management to voice my complaint and a property manager will get back to me soon. Security guy said “I don’t care if you don’t get your iPads, I have no problems with kicking you out for sitting.” I will tell management don’t you care that over a hundred people will spend easily $1000 each and that next launch we’ll all boycott this mall?

I’m also alone in Granby, Qc Future Shop since the opening. I guess I’ll be able to choose the one I want. Some folks came in but didn’t know that the launch was at 5pm… they turned back. However, the funniest part is that it’s way more calm here than being at work or at home…

Actually, I’m waiting inside a Future Shop in Granby, Qc… and I’m alone. So far the staff has been really friendly with me (without understanding why I’m freak enough to wait alone for a launch that will happen only in many hours).

If I were in front of you and people told you that you”d lose your spot if you left the line, I would politely inform them that if they failed to let you back in, you would be joining me in FRONT of them. Got to future shop at Richmond hill Ontario at 415pm (pretty large lineup but they did it INSIDE which was kind of them) – managed to pickup the 32gb wifi white! 4 ppl after me and sold out! Maybe random ones available! My wife played with the ipad2 and has decided she likes it so she’s gonna wait till April 22 (or earlier!) as I ordered one online as well

walked into FutureShop at Keele /St Clair in Toronto at 5pm to do a non-related return. Saw a small line, and thought hey, why not ask. They were handing out tickets, and I got the 2nd last ticket – only choice was white 32GB wifi only iPad. Exactly what I wanted – I was undecided about colour – very happy with the white for a change. Talk about lukcy.

Guess I will cancel the 32GB black wifi only order I placed at the Apple Canada online store at 4:07 am – literally the minute they started selling them. Even though I was one of the very first online customers, the estimated wait time was 2 to 3 weeks, with estimated delivery right in the middle of my Mexican resort vacation. Can’t have that !

I lined up inside the Victoria Best Buy at around 12:30pm PDT yesterday. The line was inside the store front entrance and they were handing out free bottled drinks. There were about 12 people in front of me at the store.

I was able to get a 64GB Wifi model.

Just back from Pacific Centre Vancovuer….. Got in outside line at 9:40, and was out of the Apple store at 11:40 with my 64 Gig WiFi Black with Green case….
Walked in the door and cancelled my on line order…..

Is anyone lining up at Square One Sunday morning? I’m thinking of going around 7am.

Spoke with an employee at the store today and they said that some people lined up today(Saturday) and got an iPad when the store opened.

He said to call at 10 and ask if they have any in stock. Store opens at 11. He couldnt tell me today if they have any in stock.

I ordered iPad 2 online Friday. I just happened to walk by the Apple store in polo park mall in Winnipeg while shopping and saw 5 people in line. I decided to cancel my online order and get me a 16 gb Black wifi. It took all of 10 minutes to do.
They still have 20 or so of every Black model in stock and a few 64 white ones.
This was at 11:45 Saturday morning.
