In early March, we reported that on the Canadian Apple site for the iPad 3G, Fido was listed as an available carrier.
This prompted the question if Fido was planning on releasing data plans for iPad, since Fido was not an official carrier for the original iPad.
As we arrive on iPad 2 launch eve, Apple has now updated their website and removed Fido as an available carrier. After this change, we are back to the original carriers; Rogers, Bell, and Telus. The plans for these carriers are listed:
- 250MB: $15/month
- 5GB: $35/month
- 500MB: $20.00/month (no way to cap @ 500MB; users must monitor usage at TelusMobility.com)
- 5GB: $50.00/month (maximum paid per month)
While not listed in Apple Stores, Virgin Mobile also has an iPad data plan:
- 500MB: $20.00/month Flex Data (if data exceeds 500MB, the customer is automatically moved to $35/month)
- 5GB: $35.00/month Flex Data (if data exceeds 5GB, customer is charged $0.015 cents per additional MB)
Thanks to Cody for the heads-up!
