Apple announced their 2011 Q3 earnings today, and the numbers are a doozy. The company sold 9.25 million iPads, up 183% from the year ago quarter. For comparisons sake, in Q2 of 2011, 4.69 million iPads were sold. Apple almost doubled their iPad sales in one quarter.
During the earnings conference call, Apple revealed they managed to sell every single iPad 2 unit made, and the Enterprise market is adopting the iPad as 86% of Fortune 500 companies are deploying the device.
The iPad has also led to a slight cannibalization of Mac sales too, as revealed by COO Tim Cook, as only 3.95 million Macs were sold.
The most important announcement of the call was the confirmed release of OS X Lion, coming tomorrow on Wednesday, July 20th.
