Apple Releases iTunes 9.2, Brings iBooks PDF Support

This afternoon, Apple released the latest iTunes, version 9.2. The new iTunes is available on a PC or Mac via Apple Software Update or from Apple’s website.

The new iTunes 9.2 update brings support for iPhone 4, iOS 4 features, and several other enhancements and improvements, including PDF support for iPad:

  • Sync with iPhone 4 to enjoy your favorite music, movies, TV shows, books and more on-the-go
  • Sync and read books with iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4 and iBooks 1.1
  • Organize and sync PDF documents as books. Read PDFs with iBooks 1.1 on iPad and any iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4
  • Organize your apps on your iOS 4 home screens into folders using iTunes
  • Faster back-ups while syncing an iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4
  • Album artwork improvements make artwork appear more quickly when exploring your library

The iTunes 9.2 update also delivered several security fixes detailed in this support document.

    In Canada iBooks is only 1.0.1 and iPad only. On monday (I assume) it will be 1.1 with PDF support and iPhone compatible

    “iBooks supports syncing of DRM-free EPUB content directly to the iPad thru iTunes.” There are other e-reader, like Kindle, Barnes & Noble, Ibis… but, i don't know what the relationship between e-reader and itunes.
