Apple Acquires iPad Trademark from Fujitsu

by on March 27th, 2010

You ever wonder about the iPad trademark? It looks like Apple did not own this trademark until news broke that Cupertino had just purchased it from Fujitsu. The old iPad usage by Fujitsu was for Windows CE-based point of sale machines, which were introduced a couple years after the iPod.

It is now official that Apple owns the iPad trademark. We’re not sure how Apple acquired it so easily, but it’s safe to assume that with Apple’s war chest of cash, a deal was made. This news comes just about a week’s time away from the iPad’s April 3rd launch in the USA.

Apple did something right, unlike Google and their failure to acquire the Nexus One trademark since Integra Communications pursued it already in 2008. For Nexus One owners, will they have to scribble out the name on their phones? iPad owners can rest assured they will have to do nothing of the kind!
