Bloomberg reports on a research note from Peter Misek, an analyst at Jefferies & Co. Apple is set to debut its rumoured ‘iPad Mini’ by year end (it could go on sale in October), which would compete against Google’s Nexus 7 and Microsoft’s upcoming Surface tablet.
Apple plans to debut a smaller, cheaper iPad by the end of this year, people familiar with the plans said in July. Misek said Apple would sell at least 8 million of the miniature iPad in the three-month period ending in December, and generate about $2.4 billion in revenue by pricing the device at $300.
There has been recent discussion on the form factor and screen size of an ‘iPad Mini’, with numerous mockups emerging (the image below via iMore):
Bloomberg reported in early July an ‘iPad Mini’ would be coming in October, following by the Wall Street Journal noting their own story about production of a smaller iPad already under way, set for a simultaneous launch with the ‘iPhone 5′. The New York Times had their own report shortly after, stating a new smaller iPad would debut for ‘significantly less than $499′.
The smaller iPad is coming it appears. All signs point to a fall launch of the device. Are you ready for it?
