Here is some more 7-inch iPad goodies to add to the rumor mill.
This week, reports claim that a 7-inch iPad will be launched by Christmas 2010. The report comes from an Economic Daily News story which has been translated by IDG News.
The Economic Daily reports that Taiwanese companies have won a number of component contracts for the iPad 2. Chimei Innolux will supply 7-inch LCD screens, which use the same IPS (in-plane switching) technology found in the original iPad, which improves viewing angles and color on LCD screens. Touchscreen technology for the screens will come from Cando Corporation, the report says.
The iPad rumor mill has been full of 7-inch iPad reports lately, which have ranged from sparse stories to full digital mock-ups of what a 7-inch iPad would look like.
The current iPad, featuring a 9.7-inch display, has been a huge success for Apple. With the iPhone featuring a 3.5-inch display and the current iPad at 9.7-inches, is there really a need for a 7-inch iPad?
