iOS 5: iPod App Overhauled, Renamed To Music

by on June 10th, 2011

For those using the new iOS 5 beta, you may have noticed that you no longer have an “iPod” app on your iPad. Instead, the old iPod app is now simply called “Music”.

The new Music app stores all the same content as before and can still be organized using artists, playlists, albums, songs, and so on. However, the app has been completely overhauled. Previously the iPod on the iPad looked more like iTunes, but not any more.

The new Music app has been extremely simplified. Playback controls are in the top left corner, volume in the top right corner, navigation along the bottom center, search in the bottom right corner, and a new “Store” link in the bottom left corner that takes you right into the iTunes music store.

Has home sharing in the video app improved? It’s always been horrible for large libraries especially on the iPad.
