Digitimes: 2048 x 1536 Resolution iPad 3 Display Panel Shipments Exceed That Of iPad 2 Displays

According to a new report by Digitimes, LG and Sharp, who have been finalized by Apple as suppliers of 2048 x 1536 resolution iPad 3 display panels, have increased shipments of such high-resolution panels. Total shipments of these new display panels, which began shipping in the fourth quarter of 2011, will exceed those of 1024 x 768 panels currently being used in the iPad 2 by Q2 of 2012. Apple Set to Unveil iPad-Optimized Textbooks at NYC Media Event

The Wall Street Journal is reporting sources have told them Apple is set to announce iPad-optimized textbooks at its upcoming media event this Thursday set to take place in New York City:

McGraw-Hill has been working with Apple on its announcement since June, a person familiar with the matter said. It wasn’t known whether Pearson and Houghton Mifflin also would participate.

The app provides instant access to an iPad optimized cloud-based Windows desktop complete with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint allowing Office documents to be viewed, created and edited. Pegatron Receives iPad 3 Production Orders, Announces 2011 Sales & Revenues

Digitimes is reporting that Pegatron Corp, the leading manufacturer of Apple’s iOS devices, has already received production orders for the upcoming iPad 3 which is set to launch in March 2012. The report also claims that significantly larger production orders are expected for Apple’s “iPad 4″ which is scheduled to launch in October 2012, with an initial volume of about 7-10 million units. However, Pegatron has not yet commented on the report.

Evidence of Siri Dictation for iPad Appears within iOS 5.1 Beta 3

Earlier today Apple released iOS 5.1 beta 3 to developers. Beta 2 was released back in December. Now, according to a discovery by @sonnydickson (via 9to5Mac), it appears the ‘About Dictation and Privacy’ screen within the latest beta makes references to Siri dictation.
