Trapster Speed Trap Alerts For iPad

by on May 12th, 2010

When you leave home for the day, bring your iPad and Trapster along to alert you of police speed traps, road blocks, construction, and other road delays/hazards.

Trapster by Trapster.com

Trapster is great road/driving companion app. The app will alert users of police road blocks, speed traps, construction delays, red light cameras, car accidents, and many more road hazards or delays.

The app is all user generated content that has come from over 5.5 million users worldwide. In other words, if there is a known hazard/delay/speed trap in your area that has not been recorded, you can submit it. Each trap/hazard further as a time stamp on it to show users when the report was submitted.

Information that is submitted can also be rated by other users and the system learns the credibility of those users submitting ratings based on how many other users agree with the traps they submit.

As users begin a trip, they can receive push notifications of new traps/hazards and also use a “My Trips” feature to track their specific trips and marked traps/hazards.

Users can also make use of the “Patrol” feature which overlays a blue line on the in-app map that shows routes recently driven on by other users. That route is then attached to a confidence factor with indicators of where the known traps/hazards are.

The app also includes in-app access to local search, Google Traffic, turn-by-turn directions, iPod control, Facebook/Twitter integration, and privacy controls.

The app is definitely a great download, so check out what speed traps/hazards are on the roads near you! Trapster is available in the App Store for free.

Probably not very useful. Ipad is too big for discrete use and would signifcantly increase the possibility of getting at ticket for using an electronics device while driving.
I love that app on my iphone tho.

The iPad is now shipping internationally June 7th, by the way.

Trapster is an awesome app for the iPhone. This could be great on a 3G iPad,
although iPad dash mounts might block out a car or lane of traffic LOL

i know, this is a slow blog, we need information like shipping delays, than an app that is more practical and useful on an iphone
